Real in that someone can climb inside and guide it. And functional – it can walk and knock stuff over.
Technology like this always improves with time. We will have mecha suits with some useful functionality one day. Maybe in the destruction business, or rescue, or (most excitingly and scary) police operations, like RoboCop.
Like all robot prototypes, these are externally powered. Carrying a battery and payload and steering them are all big obstacles. But, they are fast and squishy!
